I've found it a little hard at first because I was used to a very soft pillow. This extra firmness I actually found it to be helpful when sleeping on my side, because it holds my head very well, keeping the pressure off of my shoulder. I sleep all night on my side and I wake up without any pain, unlike my previous pillow which made me wake up with a lot of tightness on the shoulder.
